How lucky are Mazda? Well OK, they're owned by Ford, so not very. But Mazda in Europe must be doing cartwheels over news recently. The launch of their new MX-5 has coincided with the destruction of the fantastic 2005 MG TF and the news that Toyota have decided to get rid of the MR2 (and Celica) in Europe.

What competition is there left in the European roadster market? Overpriced BMW Z4s, minority specialists as well as ridiculous Smart cars and Streetkas? Pah. No Contest, even the new MX-5 is a bit bland. Hope the TF finds a (responsible!) new owner!

Today's been a little strange in that I've found myself wanting to be somewhere I'm not. Very unusual for me.

Firstly, Asmara sounds a fantastic place to see. The Eritrean capital, it's a secure East African city with a strong Italian flavour. And then a chap at work was telling about his trip to Kazan, an apparently up and coming Russian city way out on the edge of European Russia.

I want to go somewhere else.
